On the surface, the school classroom has not really changed all that much. There is still a teacher, kids, books, posters and student work hanging on the wall. But, what about the trademark green slate chalkboards and the powdery mess left in the wake of chalk? Chances are they may have been replaced with interactive whiteboards.
Basically, the days of “up to the chalkboard" are coming to an end, as today’s interactive whiteboards have enhanced the learning experience by allowing students and faculty to interact via computer. Additionally, information shared on the interactive whiteboard can be easily saved, so no more giant “DO NOT ERASE" chalkboard messages.
Installing an interactive whiteboard can be done without ever needing to tear down or replace existing wall structures. Little is needed in terms of hardware when it comes to replacing a chalkboard with an interactive whiteboard, as the whiteboard mount can be easily installed. And, with adjustable brackets, no drilling or additional structural changes need to be made for the whiteboard to fit securely onto an existing structure.
Further, finding a whiteboard that will accommodate the area dimensions of the existing chalkboard wall space is not an issue. As chalkboards are generally sized differently to begin with and interactive whiteboard space needs vary from classroom to classroom, vertical adjustments on whiteboard mounts will allow installation over a wide variety of board sizes.
Installing an interactive whiteboard can also be both cost-effective and labor-efficient. With a mount, the need for additional equipment is eliminated and no special tools are required for installation. Mounting the interactive whiteboard does not require any training or specialized skills (such as carpentry), so cost is saved on labor and set-up time.
